Solidarity Instead of Police Force
The organizations Copwatch FM and Karlsruhe Gegen Rechts (English: Karlsruhe Against the Far Right Wing) advertise their new platform against racism in German state bodies. The activists empower people by training them on preventive measures through workshops, and by teaching them about their rights in Germany. Among other functionalities, the website hosts an archive of racist police behavior in Germany. It documents awareness training to prevent further police brutality.
My work included the overall website design, logo, icons, illustrations as well as some print work: flyers and posters.

Branding
Logo
Original
The name racial profiling had already been picked before the design work began. The idea was to use it as a URL, because people are likely to search for the keywords when looking for the topic and help. But as it might come across as the opposite, the look and feel needed to be somewhat radical. I chose to also make the logo less readable because of the negative vibe the keywords produce.

Metaphor
The recurring theme is how readers work through difficult text. The website is text-heavy, but the page should not only support readability and understanding, but also emotionally empathize with what the reader is doing. Handwritten notes are common when working with text. One of the simplest, universal forms of this practice is crossing out, circling, checking off, underlining, highlighting, etc. These lines suggest which statements the reader agrees with, which arguments they support, found important or which ones were absolutely out of the question. These ideas are visually represented on the page in the most polarizing terms.

Believe in the Good
I want to remind people who see this project, that there are gems in the police force. Not everyone deserves the mistrust that is placed upon them. Neither civilians, nor the people who joined the police or state force.
